Happy 1 Month Birthday Oliver!

Two days ago Oliver turned 1 month. I swear he is at least two pounds heavier than the last time we took him to the doctor's for a checkup. I wish we were going back soon to see how much he really weighs. Next month I will have a definite weight and height. Until then...

Oliver now sleeps pretty much throughout the night, only waking up any time between 5am and 8am for food. Man can that boy put down a bottle! Oliver will eat between 4-6oz every 3-4 hours which explains the rapid weight gain. Lucky is already forseeing a box of cereal, a gallon of milk, and a loaf of bread per day for Oliver's teen years. I can't wait.....

Oliver is doing better at holding his head up and he seems less like a blob and more like a baby. He is becoming more aware of his surroundings and likes to look at the people around him. We try to get him to push up on his feet which he is doing more often but still looks like a frog when he sleeps. :)

Here are some pics taken to commemorate the occasion.

First Real Pics of Oliver and Kate

Grandpa and I had so much fun today taking Oliver and Kate to Kiddie Kandids for their first photo sitting. Oliver was awake and looking around making picture taking that much easier. Kate was, of course, a ham and smiling like her face was always in that position. The only thing that was driving me crazy was her hair - it was like all the static in the city landed on her head and making her hair either flat or standing straight up. Oh well, the pics turned out all right anyway. I have to upload some pics from my camera of Kate and Oliver posing at the studio but I have the completed portraits below.

Tonight we took the kids to see Madagasgar: Escape 2 Africa and Kate loved it. Grandpa had never seen the first Madagasgar and was lauging his arse off the entire time. Oliver slept the whole time and was so easy to manage. Yes, we were those people who brought an infant to the theater but we figured it was a kids movie and it was at the discount theater so there wouldn't be that many people there. There were more people than I expected but most of them had children so if Oliver had cried it wouldn't have been that much of a problem.

Now we are over at a friend's house and were talking about how much Oliver weighs. It has been a few weeks since his last doctor's appointment and I know he is so much larger than the 6 1/2 pounds he weighed a week and a half ago. Our friend happened to have a pretty accurate scale so we put Oliver on the scale and although we couldn't get the most accurate reading because he was squirmy, we figure that he now weighs at least 7 1/2 pounds. We weren't that surprised because we can tell that he has filled out so much and he can't stop eating! Oliver eats so much it is not humanly possible for such a little guy to eat that much. I'm so afraid of how much he's going to eat as a teenager....

Here are the promised pics from the photo sitting today:

Also, congratulations to Jason and Christy Powers and their new little boy: Max Powers. (Lucky has a feeling his full name is Maximum Powers. Is this right??? :D)

So Sorry it has Taken 3 Weeks

It seems like it has been forever since my last post on the day Oliver was born. Three weeks have come and gone and Oliver has already changed a lot. He was born at 6 lbs, 4 oz and 17" long. At his first week doctor appointment he had lost 4 oz going down to 6 lbs even. At his second week appointment he had gained it all back and weighed in at 6 lbs 6 oz and was 21" long. Now it is a week later and we are sure that Oliver is closing in to 7 lbs already. That boy can eat!

Kate is adjusting well to a new baby in the house however she has a tendency to get all crazy around Oliver and has an affliction to touching his face. Of course her touching his face means he's close to being accidentaly poked in the eye or smacked in the head but Kate's learning. The next thing we're working on with her is not getting right up in his face and then yelling "Hi Oliver!" like he was 10 feet away. Some of the things she does is so funny that we can't help but laugh but we have to tell her that she can't do some things. I know she is kind of feeling that the attention isn't completely on her anymore - which it isn't - but we're doing everything we can to make sure she knows that she is a part of the family. It will take some time but there will be the fighting between the two of them soon...

Here are some pics of the last three weeks - not a lot of change with Oliver but that blob stage is quickly passing (unfortunately for me). Oliver already has great movement with his head and is very alert; he always is looking around when he's awake.

Oliver's little white patch - we have no idea what caused this but he was born with it and hope it stays.

After Oliver's first bath ... right before he peed on Lucky...
